Last week we had a one day lesson on writing Russian in cursive. Not that we need to write it, but a lot of signs and menus are in cursive, so they just wanted us to see it a little and practice. We started by all learning our names. In Russian, my name is Сим. But, when written in cursive, the “и” is written like “u”. So my name is “Cum”. The guys didn’t even notice it, but the girls laughed and took pictures. Just trying to keep my sense of humor.
[note to self, avoid cursive!]
Sim or Сим, but NOT Cum, thanks
As one of the girls - No comment! (giggle, giggle). Glad you haven't lost your sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, the true definition used today is a latin word:
ReplyDeletecum [kʌm]
prep
used between two nouns to designate an object of a combined nature: a kitchen-cum-dining room
So one could say you have a dual nature. Not a bad thing. The "naughty" cum is just a slang word for the lazy who do not want to spell "come." It doesn't count.
