“A Taste Of Home” [Вкус Дома]…

With all of the preparations going on for our cooking day in language class tomorrow, I pulled out my “homemade” cookbook and started thinking. Before I left, El had asked some people to contribute some recipes to a collection that she put together so that in a foreign country I would have the tools to make some of the favorite dishes. As I leafed through the book she made that included pictures and quotes of the submitters, I was reminded of the many important people I have in my life. I know that after two weeks here some people are starting to get a little homesick, and although I do not count myself among those, I am feeling especially good about the family and friends that support El and I in so many ways and thought this would be a good time to recognize them. So, to my friends and family, I tip a glass [and a second tip to all of those that had anything to do with the cookbook!!]. One of the requirements of a host family is to provide breakfast and dinner 7 days a week and lunches on the weekend, so I haven’t exactly needed to cook yet. But, I will be here for 27 months, so I am certain that there will be plenty of opportunity once I become more familiar with the markets and offerings at my permanent site that I won’t get to until June. Until then, thinking of you.
