Well, I am exhausted but made it here safely. We were welcomed at the airport by the cultural facilitators and took a 2 hr bus to the hotel where we will spend 2 days with training and conferences. I will be assigned to and meet my host family on Friday. I have already been complimented 2 times by Ukrainians on my ability to sound out the words and recognize words that I learned with the Rosetta Stone. I was proud. I was also able to recognize the boarding announcement at the airport spoken in Russian. Again, I was thrilled. From where I stand, it can only get harder, but I am sure I will conquer this hurdle.
Also, I understand that one person freaked and did not get on the plane in Washington. Let the weeding of the weak begin!
Yeah! I've been thinking of you all day. Glad you're there safe and sound. Влюбленность, МАМА
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it there in one piece! Wait until you start dreaming in Ukranian - it's the weirdest feeling. I still dream in German every now and then (and of course in my dreams, I am still fluent)! : )
ReplyDeleteWe are a no freak out family! I had no doubt that all your studying and trying with Russian would help in some way - I am VERY proud of you! As I've always said - you're awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe miss you!
ReplyDeleteHope this note finds you both doing okay.
I am sure with all the love you have for each other it will only grow stronger with time.
We are not surprised that Sim can get this new language. He was so sood with the new names at TWEC.
