Day #13/31: A Sign

DAY #13: A SIGN

Ukrainians LOVE to have their picture taken. Their fascination with the camera is comical sometimes- and not in a bad way. Just in a way that I am glad to oblige whenever I can. All I can say is that I am thankful we are in the digital age where a camera can hold hundreds of photos instead of the film rolls that you needed to be a little more judicious with. I am happy to take pictures of anyone who asks and I do not believe I have ever been refused when I ask to take pictures of others. I have had people ask me to take many photos of them in one sitting, all in different poses. It just never seems to be enough for them…nor for me. I would rather be behind the camera than in front of it. Every month I go to the local orphanage to spend time with the kids there. I have learned that some, if not most, of them like taking pictures as much as they like being in them. I have started to give the camera to the kids while I am there so they can take the shots they want and not just what I want. These young ladies have helped to make my orphanage experience so great. After I got home the last time, I was checking out the pictures they took of each other and I found this one. Вика (Vika) on the left, Катя (Kate) on the right: showing us a truly universal sign.
