DAY #7: SOMETHING YOU WORE
When I see this photo, I think “Thank goodness for the hat, my hair was a mess” in this recent gem that shows a decreased level of self-consciousness. Believe me, I am very aware of my nakedness when I go to the sauna, but I feel like the only one that is thinking about it. If I couldn’t get over it, I wouldn’t be a regular there now. One of the single most ironic things about my Peace Corps experience is that I look forward to my weekly (sometimes semi-weekly) banya. This photo was taken during a cool down period on our New Year’s Eve session. We had a feast of salo, pickles, and bread, as well as several bottles of vodka to get the celebration off to a good start. But, we had this badass accordion to kick the festivities into high gear. During an intermission between songs, someone thought it would be funny to get a shot of me with the squeeze box. I have never in my life held an accordion. I never realized; A) how heavy they are, B) how to hold it properly, and C) while wearing no clothes, if you compress it in the wrong place at the wrong time, you are likely to squeeze more than a tune! Funny, I never thought of accessorizing with a musical instrument?
