Day #17/31: Green

DAY #17: GREEN

A moment I am not entirely proud of. This shot was the end of the evening of our “International Food Festival” where we introduced several Ukrainians to some new American, Mexican, and Italian foods. We provided the food and asked people to bring their own drinks. As the group filed into the apartment the drink table filled with selections such as soda, juice, and homemade compote. Some brought beer and a couple brought vodka and/or “cognac”. I was still in my first months at site and was cordially invited to toast “to new friends” several times over the course of the evening. Most of the shots seemed to barely fill the bottom of a plastic Dixie cup. Unfortunately, the sheer number of shots, admittedly, got away from me and I consumed a lot more than I should have, whether I was playing host or not. Luckily, most of the guests left earlier in the evening, leaving only the, in most cases, equally impaired party goers the only witnesses to my lapsed judgment. Such is life, the look on my face here foreshadows the rougher end to the evening. I lasted about 1 more hour after this photo before harkening back to my college days of yore. And, I am going to go out on a limb and say is was not something I ate.
